A cooler harvest for vintage 2017

Vintage 2017 is scheduled to be running late compared to recent years, with the Durif not yet at veraison in mid January, when typically half the berries are coloured up at Christmas. There was a violent hailstorm in November which caused $100M lost crops throughout our region, however 919 Wines spared this in both vineyards.

This year we have trialled sunscreen on the Durif for the first time in an effort to protect the grapes from extreme heat. To date the trial has been effective, with only a small amount of sunburn evident.

 Watch the sunscreen being applied.
